Home / What it costs

You pay nothing unless we recover your money

If we recover nothing, you owe nothing. Not our time, not the costs, not the attorney. We advance all of it and we absorb it if the claim fails.

How the fee works

If we do recover, it works like this

  • Costs actually paid to third parties come off the top — postage, delivery, notary fees, and the attorney’s fees and costs where an attorney is retained. We advance them; they are reimbursed out of the amount recovered.

  • Of what remains, our fee is never more than 30%. Thirty percent is our ceiling, not our starting point — on some matters the rate is lower, and it is negotiable. Whatever number applies to you is written into the agreement before you sign, in dollars and not just as a percentage.

  • The balance is yours. You receive a copy of the check and a written accounting of costs and fees, and you confirm in writing how the payment should be made out and where it goes.

No advance fees

Undistributed Refund Experts does not collect any fee, deposit, retainer, or payment of any kind before a recovery has been obtained. You will not be asked for money to open your file, to get the case review, to request records, or at any point before funds are actually disbursed. If nothing is recovered, you owe nothing.

Why work with us

You focus on your life. We handle the process.

A surplus claim means court records, deadlines, an attorney and filing costs. We take on all of it, and we pay for it until your money is recovered.

What we handle

  • Finding the funds and confirming how much is being held
  • Pulling the deed history, tax, sale, probate and heirship records
  • Retaining a licensed attorney and advancing the fee
  • Advancing every filing, court and third-party cost
  • Tracking the deadline and responding to the court
  • Following the claim all the way to disbursement

What you do

  • Tell us the property address
  • Read your free written case review
  • Sign the agreement, if you want us on it
  • Send the documents we ask for
  • Confirm where your payment goes

Up front, you pay nothing. If the claim fails, you still owe nothing.

What signing actually commits you to

Four things in the agreement you should know before you sign, not after.

The case review is free either way. You can take the agreement home, read it, and decide later.

  1. You’re appointing us as your exclusive agent on this claim.

While the agreement is in force, we are the only ones working the claim. You aren’t filing it yourself and you aren’t hiring anyone else to.

  2. If you do pursue the claim on your own after signing,

the agreement treats that as circumventing us, and the full percentage becomes payable immediately. We’d rather you understood that now than discovered it later.

  3. We select the attorney.

Under the agreement, counsel on the claim is chosen by us, not by you. The attorney’s duties still run to you — confidentiality, loyalty, independent judgment — and we don’t direct their handling of your matter.

  4. Two deadlines run against you after signing.

You have three business days to return documents we request, and three business days to confirm or object to the proposed distribution once funds arrive. If you don’t respond in that second window, the agreement lets distribution proceed without you. Both are short — tell us up front if travel, health, or anything else would make three days hard to meet.

The case review is free. If we find money being held for you, the agreement shows your fee in dollars before you are asked to sign anything.
